Tanto-Jutsu (or 短刀術 in Japanese) includes the fighting techniques ( 術 Jutsu) with a short sword ( 短刀 Tantō). The Tanto (literally meaning ‘short blade’) is a traditionally made Japanese knife with a the blade length up to 30 cm (11.6 inches). In the video embedded below (recorded on 23 December 2023), budoka Johan Oldenkamp, a former national champion from the Netherlands, performs the Kihon-Kata (or 基本型 in Japanese) of Tanto-Jutsu developed by Wim van de Leur (1944), 7th Dan in Ryukyu Kobujutsu and also from the Netherlands.
