Kanigawa no Nichogama Sho

当山の二丁鎌

Kanigawa no Nichogama Sho (or 鐘川の二丁鎌小 in Japanese) is a Ryukyu Kobujutsu Kama Kata. This Kata is named after Gimu Kanigawa (or 鐘川 in Japanese, sometimes also transcribed as ‘Kanegawa’), a renowned expert in Kama-Jutsu. To indicate that this kata is performed with two kama simultaneously, its offical name in Japanese (that is, ni-chō-gama) states 二 (ni, meaning ‘two’) 丁 (chō, a counter) 鎌 (gama or kama, that is, an oriental sickle). In the video embedded below (recorded on 28 March 2025), budoka Johan Oldenkamp, a former national champion from the Netherlands, performs the small (小 Sho) version of this ‘Kama Kata of Master Kanigawa’.
