Eiku-Jutsu Kihon

エイク術   基本

Eiku-Jutsu (or エイク術 in Japanese) includes the fighting techniques ( 術 Jutsu) with the wooden boat oar ( エイク Eiku) according to Ryukyu Kobujutsu. Next, Kihon (or 基本 in Japanese) means basics or fundamentals. In the video embedded below (recorded on 2 September 2024), budoka Johan Oldenkamp, a former national champion from the Netherlands, performs the basic fighting techniques for the Eiku (also transcribed as ‘Eku’).


Kamae-Waza:

Jodan-Kamae (Upper level Posture)
Chudan-Kamae (Middle Level Posture)
Gedan-Kamae (Lower Level Posture)
Waki-Kamae (Underarm Posture)
Hasso-Kamae (Across the Body Posture)


Uke-Waza:

Soto-Uke (Outside Block)
Uchi-Uke (Inside Block)
Sukui-Uke (Scooping Block)
Gedan-Uke (Low Block)
Harai-Uke (Sweeping Block)


Seme-Waza:

Tsuki (Thrusts):

Nuki-Tsuki (Spear Thrust)
Maede-Tsuki (Front Hand Thrust)
Gedan-Nuki-Tsuki (Low Spear Thrust)

Uchi (Strikes):

Jodan-Uchi (High Strike)
Furiage-Uchi (Upward Rising Strike)
Yoko-Uchi (Side Strike)
Ura-Uchi (Back Strike)
